Jackpot起源于一種叫做“暗撲克”的賭博游戲，J（Jack）指畫(huà)有“仆人頭像”的紙牌，牌位低于Queen（皇后），而pot指游戲者一局下的“賭注”。游戲規(guī)定，只有游戲者持有兩張Jack時(shí)才可以叫牌，而且在叫牌之前每個(gè)人必須押上一定的賭注。經(jīng)過(guò)幾輪的叫牌，賭注金額會(huì)越積越多，最后的贏家將獲得所有的賭資。Jackpot由此而來(lái)。
